Alternatives To Kace K1000 Patching: GFI LanGuard, etc

Good Day Everyone,

I would like to know what are some good Windows, Linux, and Unix patching systems out there besides Dell Kace K1000. I have had nothing but issues from patching using Dell Kace K1000. Sometimes systems take over 3 hours to patch. Some laptop systems were slow and usable after patching with Dell Kace.

Can anyone suggest better products? How is GLI LanGuard?

Desktop Authority worked real well and Dell has actually revived Desktop Authority.

Anyhow just not happy about Kace patching!!!!!!

Thanks
Steve

  • Perhaps more familiarization with patching is needed. K1000 patching works well for me. Labels need to be used to create an automated setup for patching. - anonymous_95342 9 years ago
    • I am pretty familar with the product as I have been using it for almost a year. And I have created smart labels for patching.

The patching functionality is inconsistent and has bugs - shandy4473 9 years ago
  • shandy4773,

I'd love to hear about your experiences. Can you provide any detail on the inconsistencies and bugs? Btw, have you heard of our KKE program?

  • What kind of bugs? What happens? How is that different from what you expect to happen? for example, what is your process if you wanted to patch Adobe Flash to the latest version?

I don't experience any inconsistencies when patching. I would like to help you out as best I can. - anonymous_95342 9 years ago

We currently use GFI LanGuard for our patching. It does what it says it does, but its not flashy. There is no way to get gfi to automatically patch the system till its up to date(unless getting it done over a span of a few days is fine). You have to manually refresh the information and then manually remediate to get it up to date in a day. It is my understanding the KACE will patch, reboot and patch again until it's all patched?? GFI gets the job done, but probably just like all things, it could be better. I think i'd rather have one product do many things with good reporting, than have multiple products doing different things with individual reporting.

  • Yes depending on how it is configured, the K1000 will patch and reboot as necessary. - anonymous_95342 9 years ago
