Borland Database Engine
For a little application, this sure is a pain...
Borland Database Engine 5.22
I have 3 files:
Borland Database Engine (5.22).msi
Data1.cab
setup.exe
Running the msi by itself...fails, wants it to run using the setup.exe, and so far, I haven't been able to figure out how to turn this off as there doesnt appear to be an 'issetupdriven' property or anything of the sort. Also, the MSIscript doesnt reference anything that looks easy to disable in regards to running from the msi as opposed to the exe.
So, I try to run silently with the setup, with options, or without options and it returns an 'Error -3' every time.
Tell me someone out there has a way to automate this...

oh...forgot to mention one other oddball thing about this installer.
when you do actually run their setup.exe (which doesnt appear to be an InstallShield app), it extracts some files via InstallShield and the app then looks like an InstallShield app - yet, no IS exe that I can find. It does extract some files to the temp directory, but none useful.
I've toyed with some of the custom actions in the MSI trying to let me bypass the exe, but still no luck.
hope someone out there can give a little guidance!

What is the date of the application files? Just curious...I don't think BDE is being developed anymore.
Have you tried /r to see if it will generate a setup.iss file?
I re-packaged BDE a long time ago. One of the reasons was because it required some configuration post-install.
You may want to consider this as it may be faster.
