We have both boxes and we don't image everyday but we still have it around to capture images for managers, old employees ...etc

Not sure what the underlining question you are asking is. My guess is, seeing how others maybe using the K2 to see if you can get more out of it then what you are doing today.

I think of it this way, we have AV and pay for it but, knock on wood, we have never had a infection. Doesn't mean I should remove AV but it is there just in case.

Yep I have both the K1000 and K2000 and they work perfectly. I configured our K2000 for hardware indepentant imaging so it paid off big time as we had 4 different laptop models and around 5 different desktop models and then different images for each one so it made management and keeping this images updated much easier. But we were imagining around 40+ PCs a week for new starters and rebuilding all the time.

How many machines are you using it for?  If you are not doing images or deploying new machines and migrating users it may be a cost you do not need.  Your down the road plans may play a more important factor in your choice, how do you plan to handle replacements and upgrades.

  • I have only 10 images and i dont use them really often may be monthy, I'm sure i can use some software for cloning if the server would fail. - scurie 11 years ago
    • The advantage of keeping it going is you will need the updates so you can image new OS's - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago

We use ours for the following but really only you can determine the ROI for your business.

1. Image system (we also test alot so reimaging them quickly is nice in our labs)

2. Capture image of employee system that no longer works for us ( we keep them in our KBOX for 1 year in case they come back for anything, legal wise or not)

3. Cpature image of managment systems in case they click on something they shouldn't and get infected. (Since they don't like to follow the rules they lay down for everyone else =)  )
