Packaging an upgrade for Q Fax Client version 1.03

HI I have a q fax client version 1.03 which is in production, now i got a a new package from the third party vendor with a new version, the application needs to un-install and install new version,i tried everything within the upgrade tables and property tables ? but still not able to uninstall the previous version.

upgrade code for both the msi's are different and the upgrade code in general information is different to that in the upgrade table in the directory( the one in production) , i seriously need you advices.  Thanks in advance

  • The first package you try to remove is a repackaged version of the original vendor setup? In that case the original Version and upgrade codes the upgrade refers to have been lost in packaging. You must then modify the installer of the new application to remove the repackged product. You do that by changing the GUID's in the upgrade table with those of the product you want to remove.
    Alternatively use your distribution tool to remove the old package and distribute the new version. You won't use the Windows Installer functionality for upgrade but the result is the same. - EVEEN 10 years ago
