How to resolve Microsoft Office Connector error after applying image with K2000?

We are using our K2100, v3.6.98680, and creating System Images (no scripted installs at this time).  We have used the sysprep creator before capturing the image from a Dell Optiplex 7010.  Once the capture has completed, the workstation is rebooted and all applications seem to function normally.  The created image is then applied to another Dell 7010.  The imaged machine is configured on the domain and applications checked for functionality.  Microsoft Outlook has an error, "To continue accessing your mail using Microsoft Office Outlook, you must upgrade to the latest version of Outlook Connector".  Due to this error, it is not possible to send or receive email.  According to some tech sites, uninstalling Microsoft Outlook Connector and then reinstalling the proper one will fix the error.  Unfortunately, the Connector is not in the installed programs list.  We did try to install the fix, but there was no change in the application.  We have also tried to view various logs when applying the image, but there aren't enough details in any of the logs on the KACE appliance.  Is there either a preinstallation task, mid-level, or postinstallation task that is being overlooked?  The Microsoft Office license has not been activated at this stage.  As a test, Office has been activated after applying the image and having this error, but the error persists.  Has anyone else had this problem?

  • The MS Office connector is installed to the user profile. If you are logging on as a different user to the user that installed the connector, it will be broken. Log on as the original installing user and I expect you will find the app listed in Add/Remove programs so that it can be uninstalled. Then login as the new user and reinstall it. The full solution is to install the connector and copy the profile to default as indicated by SMal.tmcc above, but this will only work reliably for new user profiles. Existing roaming profiles will not acquire the default settings so if that is your environment, you would be better off leaving the connector out of the image and deploy it as the currently logged on user after the image has been deployed. - EdT 9 years ago
