K2000: Imaging systems - Same models, one additional HDD
New to KACE appliances.
I'm trying to get some images ready for deployment.
We have some Dell Optiplex 9010 Model systems that are similar enough in hardware to utilize the same image - except that one of our models has 2 drives (an SSD and a HDD) and one only has a single drive (SSD).
The current image we have is based off of the system with the single drive.
What do I need to modify to make it work with the dual drive system? (With all data going on to the SSD and the HDD being for additional storage/applications installed later)
This is on a Kace2100 appliance. The images are Win7 Enterprise (fat images)

Create two installations with different pre install tasks.
The system with the two hdd need additional lines in the diskpart script to format the hdd too.
You may just need some additional lines in your diskpart script to format the second drive. It sounds like you aren't placing any files on that second drive, it's just available. So it should be a snap.

You'd have to customize it for your needs, but here is an example:
select disk 0
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
assign letter=C
format quick fs=NTFS
select disk 1
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
assign letter=D
format quick fs=NTFS

With that script, you can apply the image to C just like normal and leave D alone, and it will simply be a blank NTFS drive available for use. - nheyne 10 years ago
