K1000 Replication Share: Can an Application Package be Copied into a Share Initially?

Hi,

I have a large application package (20GB) that I want to host in a replication share at a branch office for deployment to a team only based there.

  1. Can I send a USB key with the package to site and copy the package to the the share, instead of replicating across a low bandwidth connection?
  2. If Yes to question 1, do I then still have to have the package loaded on my K1000 at head office even though I will only ever deploy from the remote site?

Many thanks,

Karllen

I'm not sure if that is possible, but have you looked into putting the install on a share at the remote site and calling the install via script?

  • You could also use the alternate download location in the MI setup. - dugullett 10 years ago
  • Both of those suggestions should work. If it's on the K1000 share or on another one, you wouldn't have to have the actual file in Software Inventory. You would have to have a dummy file named the same for a managed install: http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/how-to-setup-alternate-download-location - jknox 10 years ago
  • Thanks, I will look at both suggestions. - Karllen 10 years ago
