Netboot Creation with K2000 v3.7.110284 using OS X 10.9

I've been trying to begin using our K2000 for Mac imaging, but having difficulty.  Once the Netboot is uploaded, when trying to boot to it from a macbook, the macbook ends up booting to the default boot device (internal hard drive).  Any help or pointers would be very appreciated.  Let me know if there are any details needed that I may have left out.

Environment:
K2000 updated to v3.7.110284 (on same subnet as creation machine)
NetBoot creation on mid2012 MBP running OS X 10.9.5
/Install OS X Mavericks.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg (10.9.5) mounted
K2000 Media Manager v3.7.109346

Steps Taken:
In K2000 Media Manager select "Create NetBoot Image"
K2000 Hostname: "10.x.x.x"
Source Media Name: "OS X 10.9.5"
Source Meda Path: "/Volumes/OS X Install ESD"
NetBoot Password: "xxxxxxx"
Confirm Password: "xxxxxxx"
Click Start Build... wait... successful completion
In K2000 Web interface: Library > Source Media > OS X 10.9.5 exists with 7.24 GB file size
In K2000 Web interface: Deployments > Boot Environments > OS X 10.9.5 exists with status: "Completed"
In K2000 Web interface: Settings > General > Mac OS X Intel (NetBoot) > "OS X 10.9.5"
Shut down MBP
Option Boot (Choices are Macintosh HD, Recovery, K2000 Netboot (10.x.x.x))
Select "K2000 Netboot"
Apple logo gray screen > about 30 seconds later, it boots to the default Macintosh HD instead of the Netboot

Thanks!
Tom

  • did you set it as your boot under "settings-control panel-general settings-default k2000 boot envs? - SMal.tmcc 9 years ago
  • Yeah, that's the first tip made by a Dell engineer. Unfortunately while it seemed to be the missing piece, enabling it didn't make a difference. He also thought it might an IP helper for our previous NetBoot server, but we never netbooted across subnets. - TSachenTW 9 years ago
