Nice Universe "breaks" Standby option on DELL e6420 only

Hi

Hoping for some help here…

I have a 16 Dell Latitude E6420's running XPSP3 that have a common issue: Whenever I have NiceUniverse 8.8.06.0000 installed on them, The Hibernate and Standby options disappear. If I uninstall and reboot the Laptop then the Hibernate and standby options return. Clearly there is some issue between this software and this model of laptop.

All other Desktop and Laptop models that have had this package deployed to them work fine and the laptops have expected behaviour regarding Hibernate and standby: Upgrading the software isn’t out of the picture yet but until I have resolved this issue I cannot guarantee that the issue will not be the same on upgrade.

My Process so far is to have my laptop rebuilt cleanly (Base SOE) and then install the application and capture the installation with SpyMeTools. It is slow going to try and work out which replaced or deleted file(s) might be responsible.

If I query the laptop with a powercfg switch it tells me that the system doesn’t support this configuration, I take that to mean that crucial components are overwritten during install.

Can anyone suggest a better tool than SpyMeTools to track to the bottom of this?

I have installed with Procmon going and could not find any meaningful data.

I have tried updating the Video & Network drivers as well as updating the BIOS

Googling hasn’t helped thus far nor searching TekTips (Has a Nice users forum) Nor this site

Any help pointing me to a tool/approach that will better serve my needs is very welcome

Thank you

My guess is a driver or service that it installed is stepping on the power manager.  Look in device manager on one with and without the program installed and see what new devices it installed.  If there are any new one you should be able to diasble these one at a time and see if one of those is the problem
