Office 2013 OCT wont call Office 2010 Uninstall

So im using the Office OCT to build a package fro Office2013 Pro Plus 64bit. It works as a fresh install but when i try to add the command to uninstall office 2010 32 bit it never calls the uninstall command. Im using the command: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe /uninstall PROPLUS /dll OSETUP.DLL. That works from the command line directly but not from the OCT.

I tried also using the MsiExec.exe /X{90140000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE} /QN and the setup.exe/msiexec launches in the task manager but Office 2010 remains and nothing changes. What is the proper way to call the uninstall of Office 2010 from within the Office 2013 OCT using C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe /uninstall PROPLUS /dll OSETUP.DLL

Within the OCT, look to the 'Setup, Remove previous installations' page.  You don't have to specify the actual commandline, just pick & choose what you want to yank off the machine.

  • Thanks but it wont remove Office 2010 32 BIT being Office 2013 64 Bit. That is a well known issue. - CEads 10 years ago

I`ve also had this probleme.  Ended up creating a task sequence that would remove 2010 first then install 2013.  The only way i found to remove completely office 2010 was by creating a uninstall.xml file witch i placed under the ProPlus.WW folder then runing this command

setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config "proplus.ww\uninstall.xml"

  • Are you using System Center of Dell Kace Box. Did you deploy using MS OCT? I can run the uninstall command from the command prompt but the OCt doesnt execute the uninstall.xml. Also the start menu Office 2010 entries remained after using the uninstall.xml command. How did you overcome that? Thanks - CEads 10 years ago
    • When i tried to do an uninstall using the options in the OCT, i had Office tools remaining in the start menu. By using the xml file, i was able to remove all of the office 2010 suite.
      i`m using SCCM 2012. As you can see in my command line above, you must specify where the xml is (proplus.ww folder).
      This is the content of my xml file:

      <Configuration Product="ProPlus">

      <Display Level="none" CompletionNotice="no" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
      <Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="Never" />
      </Configuration> - KevinViolette 10 years ago
      • Yes im using the dell kace box. I use the office OCT and use the uninstall command + Uninstall xml but it never executes/Uninstalls. I run the command from the command line it works but within the OCT it will not execute the uninstaller.Also your XML is exactly the same as mine but my shortcuts dont get removed. - CEads 10 years ago
    • If you say the shortcuts are not removed, does that mean the Office suite is no longer listed in your add/remove program list ? If i`m not mistaken, office will only remove the shortcuts it knows about. If you created your own shortcuts after it was installed, it probably won`t remove those. - KevinViolette 10 years ago
      • Office 2010 remains in Add Remove Programs + Office 2010 folder remains in the start menu Programs. If you click on a office app it than executes a repair/reinstall. So it is removing some components but not all (registry) which is why the office 2013 installer will fail when it finds those items. - CEads 10 years ago
      • Sorry, can`t help you any further as i have no knowlege of Kace. Works for me with SCCM 2012. Good luck. - KevinViolette 10 years ago
