Orca edit MSI to not remove files on uninstall

Dear all,

I have rolled out a MSI package which has now problems after it is uninstalled.
There are system files removed which should not be removed.
Is there a way to edit the package with Orca in any table and mark the files to be not removed during the uninstallation?

My colleague redesigned the package but if I run the uninstallation it removes the files as well.

Any idea?

Regards
Thomas

For existing installs. perhaps you could rollout an MSP that removes the ID from those components, abandoning the components on the machine?

Off the top of my head. I'm sure others will have better ideas.

I'm not sure if you can do that with Orca... you could download a trial of IS/Wise and do it.

You could isolate the system files (and any corresponding registry entries) into a component, or a component for each file. Then make this/these component(s) permanent. In Orca this translates to adding 16 to the attributes value in the component table.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
