Package Conditions via Wise script

HI

How we can control these mentioned scenarios in scriopt.-

1. MS Silverlight should only installed on machines those having IE6

2. MS silverlight should only install on machines those having IE7,IE8,IE9. only.

Humm, this is something you define in the deployment tool and not the MSI. It way to much overhead to do this in a MSI.

But if you really want too.. you can use launch conditions, or faff around with conditioning the inbuilt Actions.

And suppose the only deployment tool is Group Policy? :-)

Any overhead that Windows Installer requires is pretty much identical to that for any other mechanism, either by interrogating the registry, getting file versions or whatever. It's simple enough to use AppSearch and LaunchConditions to handle this type of situation.

In any event, the OP is talking about [gag...gag...] WiseScript, not MSI.

@OP, I'd suggest abandoning WiseScript and use something with better support in terms of available script samples. If you *have* to stick with WS (and I know how blinkered some clients can be...) the above still applies: you can interrogate the registry, get file versions or your favoured mechanism for determining which product version is installed. You might want to search the 'Wise Packaging' forum on Symantec's Connect portal. I'd suggest keeping your search terms wider than, say, "script internet explorer version"!!

You have to create a Launch Condition, use Appsearch to find the IE version in registry. You can find this information here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version.
