Packaging Multiple single licensed applications
I have been tasked with packaging multiple applications where we have multiple single licenses(each install has a unique CD Key). I think volume licensing is the way to go but we have a tons of software that has already been purchased as a single license and have this information stored in Remedy (our asset tracking application). I want to be able to pull the cd key from Remedy. Have Remedy decrement the number of available licenses and assign the license to an asset. Then deploy the package plus serial number to desktop via Active Directory and SMS. Is this at all possible? Any thoughts?

Ok, I found that Remedy db can be accessed. Can SMS access this db and pass information (specific s/n) to the install package?
In general, I'm wondering how other companies have gotten around this problem of repackaging multiple applications which have multiple single user license keys? I know this problem has been encounter many times by other companies

If you mean repackaging single user apps I'd advise against it. Not worth the engineering effort for a single user. If you simply want to track the licenses keep the source on SMS, install it through RAP, and have the user enter the license on first use. Not sure how automated you can get with SMS as far as license inventory but you would be able to track instances of the app installed, used, the license key, uninstall unauthorized users, etc.
