Palm Desktop 4.1.4 HELP

Hi

I've been trying to follow the guidlines here at the forum and i think im nearly there, but i have some "small" problem still with this package..

LEt me expalin what i did first
1. I run isscript.msi for med setup.exe
2. Then i used install tailor and made a mst fil to the the native palm_desktop.msi file.
3. I edit the mst file, made a new component called CurrentUser and copied alll the HCU reg entries from all the other components into it.
4. Then i deleted all the shortcuts and made a new one(advertised).
5. The i made a hidden feature(dont know why it should be hidden) and assigned the CurrentUser componet to this feature.
6. Then i moved all the other componets into this one(so i only have 1 component
7. And i made a "self repair" on the CurrentUser component

Then i installed the application. Afterwards i gave full right to the interactive user.

Application works fine with my admin account-i start palm desktop and make a user. Its made at c:\programfiles\palmone
When i log on with my test account(limited) i see the repair is running and the application starts up just fine but it's using the same account as i generated with my admin account. Why?????????????????????????????????

Can figure out why. Guess it's just a small error-but why????

This is by design from the palm application.
It stores a hmm think its called PID that identifies the palm, each palm device will have a uniq PID stored on the client and thats also why it's using the same account you set up using the Admin account. As they store this in the "Program Files\palmone" directory it will be shared by all users using the application.

Have you tried using another palm device and get the same issue?

Thx for all the good answers you give angeID.

Im packaging the application for another company you see, and i dont have a palm to test it on.
So i have been creating the user without the palm connected.

So you mean then i connect the palm i wont get the other's users up in the palm desktop appl????

If you repackage the application do not include any user you create, this will be done automatically from the palm device. When connecting the palm device for the first time the user will be asked if not aleady done to create an account.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
