Problems adding PCI-E card during Windows XP Scripted Install
We bought a group of Optiplex 390 PCs, and need to install Parallel Port cards to support legacy receipt printers.
We bought Sunix Multi-IO controller cards from Dell, and found the correct driver package (R291908.EXE) on the driver CDs for the Optiplex 790 that came with the cards. I extracted the driver and copied the folder to our K2000 here: \\k2000\drivers_postinstall\dell\windows_xp\390\options\R291908. I then recached all the drivers.
During the scripted install, the driver is not installed, but Windows XP sees the card and tries to run the "Add Hardware Wizard."
Once Windows is installed, I can install the drivers using either the executable or by pointing the wizard to the files in the driver folder aftyer copying the folder to the local filesystem.
I would prefer not using a post install task to add the driver as it then becomes machine dependent. Does anyone have advice on how I can make the driver install as if it were part of the normal Optiplex 390 driver feed?

Update: The driver is installing, but the Add Hardware Wizard is running. Is there any way to suppress the wizard?
To supress the hardware wizard, you can create a PO to edit the registry. You need to modify:
HKLM\TEMP_SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceInstall\Settings\SuppressNewHWUI
set it to 1, it is a REG_DWORD
