Resetting Devices Inventory Columns to Default

We have a user who cannot reset their device inventory columns back to default. For some reason when we pull up the "Location" column we get a red error that says "There was an error retrieving the data for this page. Please refresh the page. If the error persists, try resetting the default page layout." Once this occurs, we can't unselect the column and selecting reset to default layout does nothing. We have tried in multiple browsers including IE, Edge, Firefox and Chrome. This appears to be attached to the user profile and not the browser. We have tried to restart our K1000 as well without any success. Anyone have any idea on A. how to reset his column visibility and B. how to resolve this issue with viewing the location data that is tied to the device?

I ran into this not too long ago as well.  These settings are stored in GRID_COLUMNS_OVERRIDES.  You can identify the USER_ID from the USER table and the PAGE from the adminui address bar (such as "adminui/computer_inventory.php" for the device inventory listing).  With those two you can isolate the row ID for the offending setting.  Create a dummy ticket rule to delete that row.  The user should have the default view the next time he visits the page.

  • I will try this, thanks! On another note, any reason this could be occurring and how to stop it from happening in the future? - mkantorski 7 years ago
  • We were able to resolve the problem by removing and re-adding the user but don't want to go this route again. Where would we create the ticket rule at for Inventory >> Devices? I have the User ID and the Page. Do you have an example of a ticket rule? Sorry not very good with SQL. - mkantorski 7 years ago
  • Figured it out! I was able to create a ticket rule in our service desk and select use MySQL WorkBench to run a query to get the row ID and then delete the row in the ticket rule. - mkantorski 7 years ago
