SCCM 2012 - Some Client Computers Receive Deployed Applications, but never Install them
Hello There!
I have a strange issue with clients in our SCCM 2012 Environment. Only some computers are affected. If I deploy software (any type - program, application, package, etc) the troubled machines will either show status in the monitoring section of Config Manager as "Program Received" or "No Messages have been Received". I have confirmed that these client computers are active on the network, they are in the appropriate collection for these deployments, deployments are required, MP is OK (as most of the clients get the same deployments and install them successfully).
The troubled PCs will have status in the ConfigMgr as active, healthy, client = YES. However, I noticed that the harware inventory never gets updated, last logon stamp shows way old information. At the same time I have confirmed on the troubled client computers that SCEP definition updates are successfully installed from the SCCM deploment Server, not from Microsoft Directly.
Any Help is much appreciated, as I am not sure of what exactly causes such issue with only some clients on the network.

Check execmgr.log and datatransferservices.log for additional information as to what is pending.

I have reviewed the above 2 logs and there are some communication issues; however I am not sure of what exactly may cause the issue. For this specific client it looks like it never worked right ever since the PC was deployed...

I see a bits job source file download error in the datatransferservices log. Is there a "#" in any of the file name and directories in the package. Thanks for the reply, SnowLyric. I looked into the link. but unfortunately this is not the issue for me. I do not have any # character anywhere (I have had similar issue before with special characters, but took care of it long ago).
The strange thing is that the very same package(s) have been successfully deployed and installed from the same MP (we have a stand-alone, single site structure for SCCM), and they are still deployed successfully when I build new devices.
Also when I try the client push via the config mgr console with the option checked for always install agent (even if it present on the client PC) - both sides (server and client) logs will show success for the client agent install, but the client will never communicate with the server correctly and neither the information gets updated, not any deployments are processed.
However, if I use pstools to remotely access a machine with client issue (or just locally) and uninstall the agent, and then push the client via config mgr console - it all works: client updates inventory and status info in the console, and also any deployments take affect and are successfully installed within 5 - 10 minutes....
Is it possible that some firewall rules cause this issue? I am thinking if the client during the installation sets everything correctly to be able to communicate with the server, but later one firewall gets reset or changes and that breaks the client... Or if there is any setting that triggers the client to lose site assignment after some period of inactivity (being offline)???
Also I noticed that the client config setting in the console for the hardware inventory is set to once every 7 days, but even healthy clients do not update their inventory that often - if I look in the Inventoryagent.log on a healthy client it will still show the default period between hardware scans is set to 80640 minutes (8 weeks)...
What concerns me is that within 3 weeks I got almost doubled number of clients that would display either "in progress' or "unknown" status for any deployments I have pushed recently (any kind of deployments - packages, applications, updates). I have already confirmed that these clients are active on the network, I can ping them and I have talked to the end users confirming that they use these PCs...
I am just trying to provide as much info as possible with the hope it may help someone here to get a good idea of what may be happening...
