I try to deploy office 2013 using Dell kace k2000 by following the below urls:

http://www.itninja.com/blog/view/deploying-office-2013-managed-install
https://support.software.dell.com/kb/111173

I created the msp file using the office 2013 customization tool and placed in the updates folder.then i zipped the file and uploaded it to kace k 2000 as a  Post-installation Tasks with the parameter as "setup.exe"  . During the post installation task ,i was getting the error "Task Error:The system cannot find the file specified" . please help me to troubleshoot this error

  • I have edited Tasks.xml, and look through the code for the task in question. Then i went to the specified Working Directory %systemdrive%\KACE\Applications\40 and tried to manually run the file (setup.exe).The application got installed - creativegenius 8 years ago
    • Why the automatic Post-installation Tasks for this application is not working? - creativegenius 8 years ago
  • Before uploading office 2013 package to dell kace k2000,I have also tested the same package on 2-3 office laptops .I was able to silently install the package by just running "setup.exe" from the command prompt - creativegenius 8 years ago

  • Kace k 2000 Current Version: 3.7.120251 - creativegenius 8 years ago
    • open an explorer window to %systemdrive%\KACE\applications\40 and look at the directory there, is the setup.exe there. if it is lets try manually running this on the failed cast. open a command prompt and navigate to %systemdrive%\KACE\applications\40 and type setup and hit enter, does it work? - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
      • That is working fine.I have edited Tasks.xml, and look through the code for the task in question. Then i went to the specified Working Directory %systemdrive%\KACE\Applications\40 and tried to manually run the file (setup.exe).The application got installed.

The problem for me is that i cannot go to all the systems and do this manually. Is it a problem with the latest Kace k 2000 version i am using. Can i provide remote access to troubleshoot this issue? - creativegenius 8 years ago
      • I suspect k 2000 Current Version: 3.7.120251 is causing the problems. For checking this, i have created a setup with dell kace k 2000 with the appliance version:3.7.113224.I was able to install office 2013 as a post-installation task. - creativegenius 8 years ago
      • Just wanted to make sure it ran manually to help troubleshoot. Now you know the install and push is ok, just no execution. - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
      • Let me check email the K2000 Principal Engineer to see if 3.7 has any bugs like this. you may have to open a ticket on this one - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
      • Let me apply next version update (3.7.116629 Hotfix) and see whether the post install update for office 2013 is working fine or not - creativegenius 8 years ago
    • I have already raised a Ticket on 5/2/2016 for this issue.|SR Number:3243547 - creativegenius 8 years ago
    • I will apply the 3.7.116629 Hotfix tommorow and will update you. Atleast we will know which version is causing the problem - creativegenius 8 years ago
