Thinstall issues Winzip

Steps taken to Thinstall Winzip11

1. Took a clean XP machine
2. Launched Thinstall to do a pre-capture
3. Installed Winzip11.msi and launched the license file
4. Opened Winzip to see if the registraion worked fine.
5. Created post install snapshot
6. Selected option for merged isolation, and checked box to create a msi
7. Once everything finished, I went into the C:\Program files\VMware\Captures\WinZip11.2\bin\
8. Copied the created msi and 3 exe files (winzip11.2exe, Winzip Quick Pick.exe, Winzip.exe) and put it on a server share
9. Went to a test machine and launched the msi from the server share.
10. The msi installed ok, but now on launching Winzip, I get an error, Cannot start WinZip! Required file wz.pif as not found in the same folder as Winzip.
11. I checked in my original packaging machine for any file called wz.pif but it did not find any file.

Question - What did I miss? Is the pif a shortcut file? Do I need to run thinreg on the packaging machine to create a shortcut file?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

My Ignorance.

I did not run the build.bat to re-create the files.
Solution:
I ran the build.bat on the packaging machine.
Re-Copied the modified files to the server share
Ran the msi to install Winzip11.2
Opened Winzip. Worked fine

Another Learning curve. :)

Another quick question for masters:

Install and run is fine, but I still do not see the context menu when I right click a zip file. Why?

I remember if I package winzip using Wise, I have to add a long list of parameters in the cmd options, how do I do this in Thinstall?

ThinApp / Thinstall does allow you to run explorer inside the virtual environment but you have to put it in as part of the package to get your context menus. If you are using ThinApp you might want to use application link to have packages such as WinZip linked to a Windows Explorer environment. Also here is a note regarding explorer and Thinstall. Not sure if it still applies.
