Msi API Error 80004005: OpenDatabase,DatabasePath,OpenMode

If you get the error "Msi API Error 80004005: OpenDatabase,DatabasePath,OpenMode" when trying to set the language for the MSI used to deploy the agent, try moving the ampagent msi to another directory and running the command again.

  • I had the msi buried under user folders (c:\users\my name\downloads\etc.\etc. etc.\) and had to use quotes around the msi path because of spaces. I received that error, then copied the .MSI and VBS to c:\msi, repeated the command with the new path and it worked fine. - AlanSchmid 10 years ago
  • I copied the setlang.vbs and the ampagent msi to c:\msi and then ran cscript setlang.vbs "c:\msi\ampagent-5.5.30275-x86_kboxname.domainname.msi" 1033 and it still comes up with the error, any ideas ? - KiwiJJ 10 years ago
  • oops ... I was missing the .msi at the end of the command, so all good now - KiwiJJ 10 years ago
  • Had this issue as well. Was due to the MSI being Read-Only when I downloaded it. - paulfaz 8 years ago
