Add Asset information from Device Inventory
Is there a way to add fields to the device assets that will automatically populate from the device inventory? I am specifically looking for serial number since I need that information even after a device is deleted from the system after disposal.

Under Assets, Asset Types, Computer check the field for Mapped Inventory Field. We have ours set to BIOS Serial Number so asset names are the serial number.
If that doesn't work for your environment you can technically use a service desk rule that would update the appropriate asset data table with information from the inventory. That gets pretty complicated, though.
