An off-line installer for some Microsoft updates (flexible)

We're looking for recommendations for someone that could create an installer for us. Our Office365 is being upgraded and some of our remote clients need various Microsoft updates.

Most of our clients are connected to the network/WSUS, but the remote clients are in areas of rural Africa/Asia with very poor bandwidth, and don't often get visited by IT support.

The installer (which we need to have quickly) would have to:

- contain all the potentially required updates for XP/7 clients for both Office 2007/10 (we have that list)

- query the machine to find which are required

- contain a local admin password for both XP & 7

As an optional extra, the installer could do some other things we'd like to do, such as install the Spiceworks agent, or check for and remove old versions of Flash/Java, or have the local admin password obscured to someone inspecting the installer (that may not be possible).

We know how to package a single exe with the local admin password using something like runaspc, but we're looking for something that's much more advanced.

Time is also an issue, we're looking to get this built and tested this week.

Would anyone be able to recommend any suppliers? Budget is tight, as we're a non-profit, but given the importance of this, we need to get it right.

  • alternative:
create a master image, install all updates to it, sysprep it, use winpe and imagex to capture and create a WIM file, send that file to deploy at remote sites via winpe and imagex - SMal.tmcc 11 years ago
  • the WSUS OFFLINE (former C'T offline update, named after a very popular german it newspaper where it was created as a project) is one of the best solutions to do this. - Nico_K 11 years ago

Another tool is this one:

http://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/ProgramFiles.aspx

Works similar, but is avaiable in more languages.

Tested it last 3 days, is a nice one.
