Anyone used RayPack for packaging
Hi guys,
I am looking at options for tools for application packaging. I am a massive advocate of Adminstudio by Flexera but obviously this comes at a premium. Has anyone used Raypack for packaging at all? I have no experience with it but would like to know if anyone out there has experience with it?

afraid not, as i'm currently on the same boat as you, as our flexera license renewal cost came in and its beyond a joke. i would recommend doing what i have done and applied for the free trial to give it a go

Have you thought about just a Installshield only libertine? Could work if you have perpetual Adminstudio. So new licence for Installshield, cheaper, and just use Repackager grim old perpetual licence.

I've had a trial licence. There's a RayPack guy on here (Phil) who can assist with a trial, hopefully he see this post.
I've used it and its ok, I say ok cos its a bit weird to get use to coming from Installshield. So a bit of a learning curve getting used to the UI, but other than that its the same as any other packaging tool. I didn't get a chance to use the Repackager, as I had nothing to repack - so I don't know if the repack logic is as good as Flexera (Adminstudio) Repackager.
If I had to use RayPack on site, it wouldnt be much of an issue.

as rileyz has said, it's pretty easy to get a trial license, just get in touch with Gaby (g.humberg@raynet.de) or go through the motions on the web-site. As far as the ui is concerned, it's very similar to Wise (left hand side the things to do, right-hand side do the things) ;-)
If you do have any problems, just (try) to give me a shout...
As for the re-packager, it does the job that Flexera does, and a bit more (permissions etc.), but as rileyz has already mentioned, repackaging is not a big thing nowadays...
Just make sure you get the Packbench included so that you can create your own workflows like AdminStudio...

thanks for the comment on this, i have now been in 2 presentations one from rayflow and one from flexera, in terms of what we got out of it rayflow by far focuses on what we need/want and is much more streamlined, the impression we got from flexera was 2 things, 1 automation will fix everything and never fails, and the 2nd point was look at how much this costs there for we are the best.
personally im more in favour of using rayflow, we just need to convince the people that hold the money (going by flexera's costs that shouldnt be too hard) - sparky86 7 years ago
