Assigning License Asset to Users rather than Computer Assets

We have a situation where our licensing needs, as tracked via our KACE Kbox 1000, to be assigned to, and tracked by, the user rather than the equipment. (For example, we have 82 licenses for MS Office 2010 Standard for use on our Citrix Farm)  I can add a user field to the License Asset, but it will not allow the "Select Multiple" flag.  As I thought about it, licensing really depends much more on headcount and position in our organization.  How can I tweak the system to allow assigning a license asset to muliple users?

I don't think this is currently possible. Sounds like a feature request.

You'll need to create another asset called licenses for people. That asset will contain:

name: Microsoft 2011

user: linked to the user asset

license: linked to the licenses asset

and of course whatever else you want to store.

  • the User type assett is not one of the defaults; for this to be useful, it would need to populate, and update from an LDAP import of some type. I didn't see anyway to integrated it as thoroughly as the User field itself. - rencheple 11 years ago
