Scripting Question

Batch script to add programs to All Users Startup folder in Win 7

08/28/2012 17870 views

Does anyone know of a good way to add a batch script or some command line commands to add programs to the Startup folder, in Windows 7, using KACE?

I just used the executables for these programs so I do not have a package that is installed, but I was just curious if anyone does this or knows how to do this without having to do it manually after the installation.

Also, if the user isn't obviously logged in yet, what account would I use?

This may be an impossible request, but I know there is an amazing amount of brainpower on this forum!

Thanks again Ninjas!

You can use this.

copy name.exe "%allusersprofile%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\" /Y

Leave the user at default since this will copy to all users.

Is this on the K1000 or the K2000? If you can utilize the tags so that people can better answer your questions.

  • Sorry. I tried, but it wouldn't allow me to type in the tags box. It may be a browser issue in house here though. Should I just add my own tags? Normally it would bring up the default, already created tags that others created when I would type in that tags text box. My apologies.

By the way. You have been amazingly helpful to me today!!
    • I would give it a little bit and try again. They just ran an update.

You can also use File Sync to the same location on Windows 7 and not have to worry about a script being run.

  • Never used that. I'll have to Google it. Thanks for the input!
  • How would this apply to putting programs in a default location so they run on startup? After reading about it online, I can't see how I would be able to apply this to what I was asking. Thanks again in advance!
