can i edit a Task Sequence if i am running it on a machine

is it wise to edit a TS while it is running on a machine. i do allot of testing in system center where i need to run a TS, make a change, then test that change. will making a Change to the TS while it is running on a computer influence the machine that is being imaged?

i have multiple computers that i can test on, but i hate waiting for a TS to finish every time i want to test something.
