Can Kofax 9 be packaged?

I am looking to package Kofax Client and was wondering how big a job this is and is it doable.

Not sure about version 9 but I packaged version 8 some time ago. It was a pain in the ass though, mainly because the installation of the client HAD to be triggered from the source on the server, and because of the post-install (and post-reboot) finalisation that also needed admin rights.

That was version 8 though, like I said..

  • Nice one for the quick reply.....as i have a meeting with the customer at 11am lol! Yes the more i am reading the more i feel like this is going to be one hell of a nightmare. At least you have actually said it can be packaged (V8 i know) Was it vbs install or MSI/MST's?
Also why does this need installing from the server loaction? what an application is all i can say!! - hylandi 11 years ago
  • it was a vbs install calling the different sub-installers.

I remember the client installer complaining if it didn't get installed from the kofax share on the server. We tried a load of command line stuff to make a connection to the server after the installation was done from local source initially, but never got it to get set up properly... I also remember having to take out some registry keys after the initial install to allow the post-reboot install to run without complaining that it wasn't called by the main installer..

It's been awhile though, so the details of it are escaping me, I just remember suffering for that package ... - pjgeutjens 11 years ago
