Change Preboot Environment drive Letter i.e X to A as default ?

I want to assign letter X to my one of my drives while partitioning using DISKPART in pre-boot environment but the problem is since X is used as default letter for pre-boot environment i cannot use it , can you please let me know any way i can do ?

it would break some of the command calls, they call the x: drive so you need to do this as post task.  You can assign any drive letter during the preboot diskpart and then run a post diskpart to assign that drive a new letter.

  • I am calling a diskpart script in my startnet.cmd file after partitions it returns back to the startnet.cmd and execute the remaining commands here is where am talking about X: drive is already taken,,, can you tell me where should i run post diskpart ? , I am little new to it any help in right direction would be appreciable. - kaushalh 7 years ago
