Cleaning bloatware from Laptops
Hi I'm hoping somone can assist me with a question I have.
I work for a non profit charity organization and the laptops we get from HP have so much bloatware its redic, is it possible with AppDeploy to perform before and after snapshots of the Windows 7 laptop that will enable me to remove all the rubbish and add extra applications like Antivirus and Office 2007 etc

Wow a neat idea - negative installers! not thought to try this or know if appdeploy will even do this but i do know of a free tool that can assist with your problem called PCDecrapifier which you can use in an automated fashion. It's free for personal use but they do ask for $20 per techinician using it when used for commerical purposes and it has extra automation fucntionality - it's still a bargain at that price!!!

While it is not impossible, this really isn't the best way to go. When you install an MSI it becomes a managed element of the system. What you'd have is an installation that removed something-- tracked as an installation by the system. So removing this would basically put the application back on the computer. Scripts are really the best thing for this purpose: you can often find the uninstall command in the Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current/Uninstall hive. You can often make it "silent" by adding to the command and then use simple delete and rd commands to do any lingering cleanup.
