copying 1.2 GB mdb from pc to network

When copying 1.2 GB mdb from pc to network, it seems that the copy created in the network is corrupted although I'm not able to tell by looking at the size of the file. Does anyone have an experience of copying a big mdb file from pc to network?

Click the Windows circle, Access Options (at the bottom right of the menu), Select Customize and change the "Choose commands from:" dropdown to "All Commands", navigate to Compact and Repair Database, click the Add button to add it to the "Customize Quick Access Toolbar" list. Or use Access Fix Toolbox to get back your corrupt data. http://www.access.fixtoolbox.com/

Well, the DB size is big. If you find the corruption in the database then, restore the database from backup copy. If you want to repair the file by manual way then, follow these steps:

Select File > Info > Compact & Repair Database.

Access creates a copy of the compacted and repaired database in the same location.

Note: If compact and repair is not working then, read this blog: https://www.stellarinfo.com/blog/ms-access-database-repair-when-compact-and-repair-not-works/

Tip: Manually compact and repair a database that is not open

Use this procedure when you can't directly open an Access database.

  • Make sure no other users are currently using the database file.
  • Start Access.
  • In Access 2013, Access 2016, and Access 2019:
  • On the templates page, double-click Blank Database.
  • Select File > Close.
  • Select Database Tools > Compact and Repair Database.
  • In the Database to Compact From dialog box, navigate to and double-click the database that you want to compact and repair.

There is no issue I can perceive in copying a 1.2Gb file of any description over a network.  Presumably the file was not in use when copied over. We would need to know more about your network setup to determine if there are any potential issues (eg wireless, hard wired, VPN)

As another test, try opening the local copy of the MDB in access and then use "Save As" to save it to the network location. I believe you will need the LDB file as well but that should be saved at the same time.

What makes you think the file is corrupted?

You must be pretty desperate to get this question answered, as you have posted it word for word on quite a few tech forums. I also find it interesting that you tagged it with "repair access database" when your question mentions nothing of repairing, only copying. However, on several of those other tech forums, an "answer" appears to your question that points to a web site selling software that claims to do that very thing...
