Datacard IDWorks 6.5

Hello Everyone

I have been working on this package and it's been two days now and these are the challenges I am facing:

The vendor provided media is an InstallShield EXE with bunch of other folders, files, registry files and EXEs.

Step 1:

I tried extacting any hidden MSIs and I was able to find two, one was a vc2005 redistributable and the other a USB security key driver but no hidden MSI for the IDWorks software itself.

Step2:

I installed the hidden MSIs and ran the Setup.exe so that it would skip the already installed MSIs and I would get a clean capture but it did not detect the preinstalled software and reinstalled them anyways.

Step3:

I tried to capture the entire installation and as opposed to selecting the snapshop, I opted for the Install Monitoring and it detected that it was an InstallShield Setup and advised that InstallShield Professional Logging Method would be a better option than repackaging. I followed the instructions found here but when I tried generating the MSI out of the logged output, it errored out and stopped compiling. The log file says "invalid line found in inr" and that's it.

Has anyone worked on this application before? I have even tried running the setup.exe silently with all switches imaginable and nothing works.

Suggestions?
