Deploying Office 2003 & Configuring Outlook Profiles

Hello:

I am in the process of deploying Office 2003 via a GPO using the Office 2003
Resource Kit tool. I have created an mst file using the "Custom
Installation Wizard" and then used Orca to make it an msi. I can get the
application to deploy, but I am having difficulty with the Outlook profile
settings.

Since this deployment is upgrading previous versions of Office I want the
Outlook profiles imported to the new version and then I want to apply the
following settings to it.

Set Outlook 2003 Junk email features
Set Outlook 2003 email editor
Set Outlook 2003 to close original message when replying
Set Outlook 2003 AutoArchive feature to off
Set Outlook 2003 spell check features

Does anyone know the steps to do this? Thanks?

Your existing Outlook profiles should be migrated if you select "use existing profile" in the custom installation wizard. The settings you want to enforce can be set in the Custom Installation Wizard or in a group policy. The policy templates are installed in c:\windows\inf when you install the ORK.

Hello,

Just wondering if you could shed a little more light on the process of deploying MS Office 2003 using group policy.

I have deployed non- Microsoft products on my network before by using Veritas Discover to create a before and after snap shot msi file, but what I want to do it deply and upgrade of Office 2002 to Office 2003 adding support in the users profiles for my newly installed Exchange Server 2003.

The Veritas Discovery way is very slow and I always have to create a before and after snap shot. A hassle if I run a mixed environment of Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Could you give me some tips or maybe some web pages with a few guides on how to do this.

Thanks,

Rob
