Do file syncs or managed installs process first?

Does the KACE agent process file syncs or MIs first?

I ask because I'm planning to configure an MI that is dependant upon some files that get placed via a file sync.

You can use Task Chains (Distribution |Task Chains) to sync first the files you need and run then a MI.

Comments:
  • That's not necessarily ideal in this specific case.

We are preferring to deploy the Windows 10, 1909 upgrade to Laptops via MI rather then scheduled script to give users the ability to defer as well as limit the likeliness it will try to run on a system again after it's already been installed

The files being distributed are a custom setupcomplete.cmd and accompanying powershell script designed to run post-installation. They are being distributed separately of the Windows 10 setup package so that we do not have to re-upload the 5gb package, which will reset any file syncs, and I also do not have direct access to client drop for the upload.

Does the "Order" Setting on a MI's deployment window configure it's processing order, would the scripts always be processed first If I were to set up the MI for the post-install scripts with a lower # then the Upgrade? - Kiyolaka 3 years ago
    • yes, with the order you can decide the running order.
Also file sync only checks if the file(s) are already synced and do not sync them always (except they have changed) - Nico_K 3 years ago
