Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 SP1

Hi, just wondering if anyone's had any success deploying DNS SP1 (11.5) to version 11? I've downloaded the SP1 file and it installs fine manually. If I run the .exe using the silent command it provides in the help popup (/S /v/qn) or silently run the %temp% extracted .msi, it fails on a Custom Action (CheckIfNatspeakInstalled - part of ISSetup.dll). If I remove the CA or change it to deferred in MST it fails due to other errors.

Running the installer in admin install mode appears to work (asks for location to save files etc), but fails to extract any files. Creating a response transform just sets the only feature to install level 101 so it doesn't actually install when you run it [&:] .

Any help would be appreciated as I'm rapidly running out of ideas on how to install this silently.

I did everything I could to slipstream this package into the AIP. Could not get it to go for the life of me. The only way I could extract the MSI and related contents was to steal it form the %temp% folder. Of course, these didn't work anyway so that was a waste.

I was able to get an existing installation of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 upgraded to 11.5 using these options: /s /qr
There were no prompts unless the application was running. This should be an issue for pushing new installs or OSD via SCCM. I hope to get this tested in SCCM this week, will post the results.

Which part are you having the problem with, Brett? Are you trying to patch clients directly or have you created an AIP and are unable to patch that? Have you read the 'Package KB'?

Yep, read the Package KB. There's not a lot in there currently for DNS11 but I have created the AIP using the admininstall.bat file as suggested. Using the AIP, I can install the the Visual C++ prereq and DNS itself. I can't then install SP1 silently.

I'm trying to chain the install in SCCM so that it will install both DNS 11.0 plus SP1 11.5. I'd also be happy to slipstream the SP1 into AIP directly if that's possible, but haven't found any instructions for that either.

slipstream the SP1 into AIP directly if that's possiblePresumably the supplied EXE extracts an MSP somewhere? Use that to patch the AIP in the usual way (MSIEXEC /A /P....)

Unfortunately it extracts an MSI, not an MSP. I think I'm going to have to work out how to fix these CAs so they run non-interactively .. just not sure how to go about that.

brettski, did you have any luck rolling out the Dragon 11 sp1 update silently? I'm working on the same thing and not having much luck using the extracted MSI.. I love to hear your solution if you found one!

Thanks,
John

Hi John,
I'm sorry to say that no, I never got it working silently. I resorted to an AutoHotKeys script to push the next and finish buttons. Yucky but it works :) ... and allowed me to get on with the rest of the list.

Thanks anyway. I went ahead a manually ran the update on our 15 v11 users. At least it got me on my feet for once! haha

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can download this update from? The only supported method I can find in Nuance support is to use "Check for Updates". When I do that, all I get is an Explorer box saying "Page cannot be displayed".

Thanks
