driver packages for HW, that is registering as a CD-drive,
Hi Community,
i'm right now stucked in 2 different driver packages.. A HP Laserjet 1102w and a ZTE 4G Modem..
i guess the problem is the same.. When connecting the device (USB) to the PC, it will be reckonised as a CD-rom drive, where the installations file and a autorun file is placed.. this is smart for a consumer, but not in a corporate environment where the users not has admin privilegies..
i tried to install the device manually, "extracted" the drivers from the driver store repacked the drivers in wise package studio, installed the package on a new computer, but it will not recognize the device correctly..
anyone have a clue??

What VBScab said for the drivers - that will probably solve your printer driver issue.
Your modem driver is slightly different though, I suspect the storage device on the modem runs an autorun exe with a 'check' switch - to detect if the software (there will be some software that runs the dongle) and driver is already installed and switches it to modem mode.
If it's not detected it stays in storage mode and initiates an installation of the software.
This might be a problem if you have a policy to disable autoruns, as many companies do.
I did see one 3G modem you could issue an AT command to, to leave it permanently in modem mode - but you'd have to hit each device with that before it goes out to the end-user.

i am using difx merge module, and the driver is being installed on the system.. but i think for both the packages the problem is that ist detected as a storage drive - pzymex 10 years ago

Does the printer detect as a storage device during a normal install? I've never seen a printer detect like that before.
