Editing Service Desk tickets via email

I am trying to edit service desk tickets by using email commands but getting a strange error.

I have 2 orginizations on the same box I am trying this on, test and production. The field i am trying to update is custom and is custom_3, text field.

This field is set to user create in both orginizations.

I am able to email @custom_3=text to production and it works. If i do the same to the test orginzation it does not work.

I get this back as an error. While handling your mail to The KBOX Help Desk, the following errors

occurred:

Cannot assign to custom field of type "": "custom_3".

Has anyone seen something like this or have any ideas on what to check for errors?

What is the data type. It sounds as if there is a mismatch

  • Both are set to Text data types. I tried to make them exactly the same. - young020 11 years ago
  • The only way I could reproduce this error was by wiping out the filed type altogether. Try changing it saving then going back and changing it back and re saving. If it doesn't work maybe a screenshot of the setup? - jdornan 11 years ago
