Repackager Problem - Folder containing only .ini files missing from post-installation snapshot

I have an application that creates folders that only contain two .ini files.  (The .ini files launch the application MS Office plugins).  I have confirmed that the folders were not there prior to the initial system scan and they are most definitely there during the post-installation scan however they do not show up in "Included File Items" list and the "Excluded File Items" is completely empty.

As a test, I put a blank.txt file in the missing folder folder before running the post-installation snapshot.  The folder and the blank.txt file show up in the "Included File Items" but the .ini files are still missing.

Is there any way to add them?  The application depends on these files but the repackager simply isn't picking them up.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

  • don't the ini files show up in the INIFile table and not actually as files??? Just build the MSI, then look a the MSI in Orca and see - Badger 9 years ago
    • I do not see them. What is interesting is if I use Advanced Installer (instead of AppDeploy Repackager) the same thing happens. If I manually try to add the files after the initial scan I get an .ini error.

I'm not overly familiar with .ini files but apparently the application I am try to repackage does not have the proper format? - gcioffi 9 years ago
      • That's not uncommon and is probably what's thrown the Repackager.

Before the secondary scan, change the extension to some other name (I use .NIN). Once you have your MSI, load it into Orca/InstEdit, search for .NIN and change each occurence back to .INI. - anonymous_9363 9 years ago
  • We'll just guess which repackaging tool you're talking about, shall we? - anonymous_9363 9 years ago
    • Sorry about that... AppDeploy Repackager - gcioffi 9 years ago
  • @VBScab You are the man! That worked (renaming the extensions and editing within Orca). Thanks so much! - gcioffi 9 years ago

Rename the extensions so they get picked up in the scan and edit those extensions within Orca.
