Hi all,

Our InstallShield created installation is set to 'Cache MSI Locally'.  What we've noticed is that older cache folders are not being cleaned up when an Upgrade is run.  I would have thought that cache folders associated with the older versions of our application would be cleaned up automatically.

Is there a setting I'm missing or is this by design?  If by design, is there a Windows utility that can be used to clean older cached packages?  We tried disk cleanup, but that appears to only find/delete actual Microsoft cached install files.

Our files are placed in the [LocalAppDataFolder]Downloaded Installations area.  Should we maybe use a different location?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

  • Will that remove from C:\Windows\Installer by ticking "Windows Installer Cache" instead of the location I have mentioned. If so, I wonder if I should set my cache location to [WindowsFolder]Installer. ??
