How do I setup a post install task to edit registry entries?

I want to be able to create a post install task to make registry changes and I thought this could be done via a Bat file executing the .Reg or .Vbs file.  I can't get it to work anyway I try.  I know I have done this in the past but I don't have access to the tasks I did (new job).  I've got 5-6 registry edits and I want to knock them out with one post install task if possible.  Any suggestions?

Thanks. Russ
