ICE38 what is it and why it is occure?

Component singh.txt installs to user profile. It must use a registry key under HKCU as its KeyPath, not a file.  can any one provides me the fix for that with explanation?

  • It's pretty self-explanatory, isn't it? User profile components must use a registry key as their key path and not a file. If necessary, create a dummy registry entry to go alongside the file and mark the registry entry as the key path. - anonymous_9363 10 years ago

If you have in your msi registry entries under HKCU move one of those registry entries to singh.txt component and set that registry as KeyPath for the component. This will fix the issue.

Here you can find more information about this error: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa368961%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

There are loads of posts on the Internet about ICE38 resolution and explainations, here are the first two I found with Google:

http://www.installworld.com/index.php?view=article&catid=42%3Aice&id=199%3Aice38&option=com_content

http://kb.flexerasoftware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalID=Q107352

Are you saying that you've already attempted these fixes and they haven't worked or that you don't understand why they resolve the error?

Give it a go and if you have specific questions around the resolution that the articles above, or your own research, doesn't cover come back with those specifics and someone will be able to assist you further.
