Hey Guys,

My organisation uses a SharePoint 2007 based application which opens some data in InfoPath 2007 forms. Now, the problem is that post IE8 upgrade from IE6 on XP Builds, this application and e-form is giving intermittent issue where the form is opening blank in some machines for some users. In the same machine other user might not get the error and the user who was getting the error in one machine might not get in another machines. Due to nature of business users uses different machines everyday.

Now, after some investigation I find out that post IE8 upgrade, the temp internet files folder is different for some users.

Upon first login my test user BOBTEST has IE8 Temp Folder path as

C:\DOCUME~1\bobtest\LOCAL~1\Temp\Temporary Internet Files and the users are getting the blank form error as discussed above.

But when the user is giving a reboot the path changes to

C:\Documents and Settings\bobtest\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files and the user is not getting the blank form error.

Now this is not happening for all users, and for those the path is pointing to the first path is getting the error.

Any idea why this is happening and how to get rid of the issue? Please find the image below which shows the difference.

Please note:

OS: XP SP3

Post IE8 upgrade from IE6, we have given the mandatory system restart.

Users work in a locked down environment.

Group Policy does not control the Temp Internet Files Folder. Its MS default.
