Best Practices Question

Import LDAP username change instead of creating a new user in KACE?

11/20/2019 376 views

We are in the process of changing the naming scheme of our users in AD. When we rename someone to the new username format, KACE will pick it up as a new user on the next import. The user then logs into the new profile instead of their old one. Is there a way to prevent this from happening and have KACE update the username instead of creating a new user?

In the meantime I have to manually edit the new user to give the old user the new username and archive the old one.

  • In the user import settings, when defining the mapping between user attributes and LDAP attributes, what are you using for the Ldap Uid?
    • The Ldap Uid is mapped to objectuid
      Login is smaaccountname
      Name is displayname
      Primary Email is mail (obviously)

I haven't made use of the other mappings yet.
      • If the objectuid isn't changing, then my understanding is that the other data will be updated. If your testing shows that isn't the case, I would recommend opening a support ticket.
