Install SQL 2008 R2 database engine via GPO

Hi all,

I'm trying to install MS SQL 2008 R2 database engine via GPO (applied to system, not to user).
Doing so via script, using configuration ini file for installing the components.

All components install without problem, except for the database engine itself.
SQL log shows me an 'access denied' message during the installation of the service.
The service itself is created, but it seems it fails to receive a message back from the system, telling the installation process the service has been installed and it can configure the service.

Running the installation script as a user works without a charm.
So it looks like it has something to do with the SYSTEM account somewhere not having the appropriate user rights.

Anyone who has experienced this before and has a solution for me?
Because I'm hitting a brick wall here...

Kind regards,

Corné van den Bosch
