Is a .zxp a self contained file?

I've used Adobe Extension Manager CS6 to package an mxi file into a zxp which is then quite a larger file. Just looking for clarification from someone in the know but is this larger zxp file a self contained file?

Second question would be, can the zxp be deployed through Microsoft Group Policy?
