Scripting Question

Is there a switch to prevent the desktop shortcut for Command | Configure?

I would like to deploy Command | Configure and prevent the shortcut from appearing on the desktop.  Is this possible?  I've looked at Software Tips at ITNinja and checked the help info with /h but I can't find the option anywhere.
Answer Summary:
I took nheyne's suggestion and created a batch file to install the program then delete the desktop shortcut. It looks like this:

@echo off
Systems-Management_Application_X0TCK_WN_3.0.0.1_A01.exe /s
del /Q "C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Configuration Wizard.lnk"

if you're using msi, you should add ADDDESKTOPICON=0

You could script the removal of the icon afterward:

Install line (setup.exe or whatever)
del "C:\users\public\desktop\%name_of_icon%.lnk"

I do this with certain Intel drivers that always place an icon on the desktop.

  • Sounds like a reasonable work around. I was hoping to find out there was a switch like DESKTOPSHORTCUT=0 or something similar like I've seen for other programs.
