is there any way to disable check for update in the help menu?

hi,

is there any way to disable or remove check for update from core paintshop pro x5's help menu?

i tried doing the steps mentioned in http://www.itninja.com/question/how-to-disable-check-for-updates-in-corel-paint-shop-pro-photo-x2 but in vain.

the customize button by default is greyed out.

when we open a file then the customize button gets enabled. if i follow the steps mentioned in the above link it removed check for updates only when all the menu's are enabled but if we go to manage-help menu i still see check for updates.

does anyone of us faced similar issues ?

regards

It also says in those directions "In the background, it actually modifies many registries in HKCU hive...." so if the steps aren't working, another option would be to just edit those keys in the registry via a script. For example...

REG ADD HKCU\Software\Yoursoftware /v CheckForUpdates /t Reg_SZ /d 0 /f

If it's not obvious by name which registry value to edit under HKCU\Software\YourSoftware (32 bit I'm assuming), take a screenshot of the registry, Check or Uncheck the update setting in your program, refresh the registry and compare the before and after to see what changes.

The above will only apply to the current user. So if you need this setting to apply to all new users and the machine has already been sysprep'ed you can easily script out a temporary hive load of the default profile, modify those settings, and save/unload the hive. Any new users would then get the setting in their HKCU.

solved it by passing IOFF=1 to the setup.exe(removed the corel guide
contact information
online support and resources
check for updates) from the corel main menu
