K1200 8.1.108 helpdesk two organizations users can't switch orgs or even logout unless admin

Hello all,

We have a IT helpdesk org and a parts org for one of our divisions. The IT helpdesk is working fine but when users log into the parts org they cannot get back to the IT helpdesk org. I believe it to be a role or security issue but not sure how to get the upper right corner (switch org or logout option) to show properly for the parts org so users can switch back and forth or at least log out to get back to the other org.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Charles.

  • Thanks Nico for the prompt reply but they are. thats the weird part, they can get to the IT helpdesk org just fine and then click a shortcut to the Parts org on their desktop or favorites but once the parts org shows they cannot get back to the IT org. The upper right corner area doesn't even offer them a logout option like the helpdesk org does so they can start over. I looked at the roles in each and they are different but when I try to create a role in the parts org to match the IT org it doesn't offer the same options to create one... Im really stumped on 2 things now :( <sigh> - AltCharles 5 years ago

I just saw this in the 9.0 release notes under Known Issues:

In some versions of Chrome, organization settings do not behave correctly in the
browser. Use another browser or incognito mode.
ESMP-6092

I know that this is for 9.0, but being a known issue, it may be a holdover from 8.x and did not get addressed in this release.

To be able to do so, the username and password need to be the same on both orgs.

I think I posted my response in the wrong place... apologies for the repeat note...

Also the only way I can get them to be able to log back in to the IT org is to delete temp internet files. Otherwise they can't get back in there...they open the link and it goes straight to parts org site.

  • this is strange indeed. Can you check another browser?
Since it works well after the cleared cache it looks like a browser issue - Nico_K 5 years ago
    • Yes sir ... I have tested in Chrome and IE11 and its the same. I really think it may have something to do with roles or security but not truly sure. The reason I say that is the admins do have the logout and switch org option at the top right but standard users do not get it - AltCharles 5 years ago

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit... That worked Ondrar... went into chrome and dumped temp files and it shows up. Whats weird is the IT org shows it just fine in IE but the Parts org does not. So I have the user going to IE for IT stuff and chrome for Parts stuff until somebody at Quest gets this figgered out.

Thanks a bunch to all for the prompt help. Much appreciated.

Charles.
