K2000 image issue - An error during deployment: "The computer restarted unexpectedly

The deployment seems to go fine up until "Update Configuration For OS Tasks". At which point there is a reboot and BSOD. Which puts you at picture 1 stating "the computer was restarted unexpectedly".

The previous day I was testing imaging on this system and it was imaging just fine. I updated a task to test a kaspersky install and then this started happening. Weird thing is a tried a freshly sysprepped image from a vmware snapshot and the image took fine the first round. I then ran the image one more time to test and it had the same issue. I tested the Image on a 9030 All in One and am not having the issue.

Anyone ever run into this or have any idea's on what may be going on?

Kace appliance version:Current Version: 3.7.116629

Image type: wim
error: "An error during deployment: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."

Driver Feed is checked, and I have the Optiplex 7020 Drivers installed into the driver share.

My SysPrepped image is fully updated. Additionally it has the following updates:

  • what version of kace are you using, I have not used the install MBR task for years. - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
  • Current Version: 3.7.116629

The only reason I am using the task is it was recommended in my jumpstart training. This is essentially how I was trained to use it. FYI I have been using the K2000 for all of 2-3 weeks :P

Do you think the MBR task could be causing the issue, or could cause other issues? - joemalone 8 years ago
    • no problem. Are you captureing as wims or kimages? - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
      • This is a wim - joemalone 8 years ago
      • yea that is what I am thinking - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
  • I will go ahead and give the removal of that task a shot and let you know how it works out. Thanks for the help so far. - joemalone 8 years ago
  • Edited my original post with pic. Looks like it worked just fine. I will continue to do more testing but it looks like we have a winner. Thank you for the recommendation! - joemalone 8 years ago

  • From your pic I see you are using deepfreeze. I might end up bugging you about that one if you don't mind! Been trying to figure out a good way to deploy it as a post install task, but its on the end of my list for this project. - joemalone 8 years ago
