Push Application Update Packages

I am still in the early stages of getting our KACE rolled out. But we are making some good headway.

I would like to push out the latest Java 7 update to all of our computers.

How can I do this with the installer that was downloaded through the patching section. It only detects this as needed for the computer that have java 7 installed and I want to push it out globally(we only have about 100 machines), not just for those few users.

Do I actually have to walk through a distribution or can I just push this out some how?

As long as your patch labels match your machine labels that you want it to push to then you should be good.

  • I'd use a smart label that targeted Java installs if you are including application installers. - jknox 8 years ago
  • So if the only restriction I put on the patch is Win 7 and XP OS systems, and I have the installer downloaded (which I do) it should just push to all machines regardless of if it detects the update is needed? - jrasmussen 8 years ago
    • I would be careful with your patch labels just covering Win 7 and XP. There will be a lot of unwanted patches.

I wouldn't think that if it detected it didn't need it that it would install. You're probably better off just creating a distribution for it. - dugullett 8 years ago
