LDAP Label not visible in "View By:" drop down

Hello All,

I've created an LDAP label that queries machines that belong to an AD security group.  The associated "parent" manual label is restricted to Device Inventory and the LDAP smart label details are set.  Testing the query is successful. (results below)

When attempting to filter devices in the Inventory -> Devices view using the "View By:" drop down, the label is not visible.  The device smart labels I created are visible, but not the LDAP label.  I am able to see the LDAP label in a Patch detection schedule as well.  I also tried adding the LDAP label to a device label group, but it still won't show in the "View By:" drop down.  Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend.

Scott

Apparently the LDAP label needed devices to perform an inventory in order to show as a 'member' of the label.  The LDAP label now shows in the "View By:" drop down but only showed one workstation vs. the expected 14.  But that one workstation had done an inventory since the label was created.  To confirm, I forced an inventory on another machine and it started to show as well.  So, I just wasn't patient enough.

  • This is the expected behavior for all smart and LDAP labels, they will be applied when the machine updates inventory. Also, as you discovered, only labels with a device associated with them will be shown in the View By: dropdown. - chucksteel 5 years ago
